When I entered the Porsche world, I was still a young man working for Hamburg engine specialist Thielert. There I built my extensive experience and an appreciation for working in a fast-paced environment, building Porsche 993 GT2 race engines, manufacturing prototype components for the Bugatti Veyron and engine parts for Arrows F1.


Having proved that I was worthy of working with Porsche racing engines and having developed a solid reputation, it wasn’t too long before Alwin Springer, then President of Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA), gave me the chance to rise to the next level. In my case, this meant working as an engine builder and dynamometer technician for PMNA. Here I was building and testing Porsche 996 and 997 RSR and Cup engines on a daily basis and regularly assisting PMNA ace engine builder Eric Bloss with the assembly and testing of 935 and 956/962 engines in their numerous variations.

THE FORMATIVE AMERICAN YEARS

Having arrived in Southern California to work for PMNA, I not only worked under the personal supervision of Alwin Springer, I also met Dieter Inzenhofer and Arnold Wagner, the other two founders of ANDIAL, the legendary American Porsche race shop which was located just across the parking lot from PMNA.

Being around awe-inspiring cars like the Porsche 908, 917, 956 and 962 on a daily basis and hearing the fascinating stories from Springer, Inzenhofer, Wagner and racing drivers like Howard Meister and others, I finally was hopelessly infected with the Porsche virus.

Over the next couple of years I worked with teams like Flying Lizard, Alex Job, The Racers Group and Petersen White Lightning at race tracks all across the United States.

At the time I also collaborated with technicians and drivers like Patrick Long, Betim Berisha, Joey Seely and Jeff Gamroth and became a part of Southern California’s Porsche scene where I met like-minded people like Magnus Walker and countless others. Turns out, it really is a small world when you share the same passion.

BACK IN THE MOTHERLAND OF PORSCHE

Upon returning to Hamburg, I founded my own company, which initially specialized in Porsche engine builds but soon offered everything Porsche enthusiasts need, from maintenance, repair and specialty parts sales to secure collector car storage.

Over the next few years I was able to deepen my knowledge of all possible (and impossible) Porsche models. But as I always say: My aim is not to know everything about every small detail for every Porsche ever built. What matters is to be able to quickly obtain all relevant information. It’s a lifelong learning process and one I truly enjoy.

Being a well-known specialist for such a long time is invaluable in building a reliable network of Porsche experts in Germany and Europe. A couple of years ago I started to work closely with well-known collectors worldwide and especially in the US. Meeting passionate like-minded people is a beautiful thing and a truly rewarding experience.
